July 24, 2010 After rain took out the three weeks of action across Texas, Todd returned to Devil's Bowl Speedway Saturday night for ASCS Regional Action in the Gulf South versus Lone Star tours. Todd looked solid in his heat race finishing second behind multi year ASCS National Tour winner, and Hooks, Texas legend, Gary Wright. Todd made another A Main start on a track with nothing left by feature time. Todd is tuning up and racing in advance of next month's 360 Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa. That in mind, given track conditions, he saved his new car for the Nationals and left the feature midway through. Given the spins and flips to follow, it turned out to be a wise move. When Todd takes the Sport Clips 14E to Knoxville early next month it will be his first appearance as a racer at the track, having been there as a child many times watching Tiger Bob Williams and as a pit crew member with Danny Jennings and Travis Rilat. Our prayers are with Travis and his family as he recovers from an accident inside an engine shop that killed his friend and crew chief, Tyson Perez in Washington State. If you want to make a donation to the family you can do so through the Steve King Foundation at www.stevekingfoundation.org The King family established the foundation in memory of their loved one who died of a brain injury following a crash at Knoxville Raceway. Todd returns to weekly action at Devil's Bowl this Saturday before traveling to Knoxville, Iowa. Look for updates from Knoxville on this website. You'll be able to hear the races on Racinboys - Racing Info Thanks for the emails coming in from fans. Todd and his 14E Racing Team appreciate your support! June 26, 2010 Three for the season! For the third time in 2010 Todd brought the 14E Sport Clips Haircuts Sprinter to Victory Lane at Devils Bowl Speedway Saturday Night, capping off an A Main in which he put down some high 14 second laps, setting a torrid pace. As is the case now during the weekly shows, the sprint car class races two qualifying races in which Todd put himself by passing points on the pole of the feature. Todd, as always is pleased to bring home victories for Sport Clips Haircuts and Derald Kannady of the Forney Car Wash his sponsors. Todd credits Derald for the increased performance in the 14E during the 2010 racing season. June 19, 2010 The final night of the ASCS regional showdown between the Lone Star and Sooner sprint series got the racing off to an earlier start. Todd again found himself on the front row of his heat race, the second of the night. By passing the pole sitter, he made enough passing points, even though he finished fourth in the heat to make it to the A Main for the second night in a row. He started the 24 car Main Event on a very dry slick track, trying a low line for future reference as the heat grips the track the rest of the summer. All in all, Todd accomplished what he wanted for the weekend, learning more about the changing conditions of the track in preparation for a season with more than half of the racing still remaining. Todd and the Sport Clips 14E return to weekly action at Devil's Bowl this Saturday, June 24, followed by the July 4th holiday weekend, racing on Saturday night, July 3rd. June 18, 2010 In ASCS races it is all about the draw to set your position for heat race action, Todd hit the jackpot, drawing outside front row, or the pole for the second heat of the night. When the green flag dropped, he led front start to finish in the eight lap heat taking the win. That meant an outside third row start based on passing points, which obviously he lacked since he led his heat all the way, for the A Main. He found trouble on the first lap,Todd had a tire go down, made a quick tire change instarting when the the work area but the car was off for the rest of the race. The regional rivalry continued Saturday night after another 100 plus degree day of scorching day in the Metroplex. June 5th, 2010 Earlier in the day Todd watched his oldest nephew, Jarryd walk across the stage as a high school graduate in Frisco, Texas. That night, Todd returned to Devil's Bowl, with the Sport Clips 14E competing in a new series of races at the track. Todd raced in two qualifying heat races, finishing fifth in both of them and five being his lucky number of the night, taking the checkered flag in fifth place for the night. The next week is a night off for the ASCS sprints at Devil's Bowl. Up next is the ASCS Battle of the Regions between the Lone Star and Sooner Regions. Todd will represent the Lone Star State. May 29, 2010 A week after his second feature win of the season, temperatures soared, the tracked changed and so did the set up on Todd's 14E. He finished third in his heat race and brought the Sport Clips sprinter to a seventh place finish in the A Main. A consistent night but something to improve upon the next weekend. May 26, 2010 It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we report the passing of 27 year old Jesse Hockett of Warsaw, MIssouri. Jesse died earlier today from electrocution. Todd, the Evans and Webb families send our deepest sympathies to Jesse's family upon his loss. His nickname was the "Rocket" and he certainly was that in sprint cars and midgets he drove on countless race tracks. We pause to send our prayers and thoughts to his family and friends across the nation. God Speed Jesse. May 22, 2010 After a weekend off due to rainouts at racetracks across Texas, Todd returned to Victory Lane Saturday Night at Devil's Bowl, winning both his heat race and the "A" Main. It is his second feature win of the season at the speedway, taking the victory after leading from green flag to checkered. Todd was greeted by fans in victory lane, and during his post race interview he thanked his sponsor, Sport Clips and its founder and CEO, Gordon Logan for their ongoing support of him and the 14E sprint car. Todd also thanked the fans for being there to watch sprint car racing at Devil's Bowl. May 8, 2010-- Wild action during the A Main at Devil's Bowl before the green flag dropped put at least five cars, including defending ASCS champion Jason Johnson out of action for the night. Todd ducked low behind Gary Wright and escaped the flurry of spin outs and hard hits. The race wouldn't end without another red flag with a sprinter flipping on the back straightaway. Todd hit his marks, stayed high on the groove and finished sixth, improving his result from the week before. The race winner was the 7m of Kevin Ramey. The sprinters take this weekend off at Devil's Bowl. May 1, 2010 -- Todd and the Sport Clips 14E Sprinter improved upon their finishes as of late at Devil's Bowl after a few weeks of mechanical problems. Todd took a third place heat race performance and eleventh in the A main with 21 cars; among them, some of the best sprint car drivers in the nation. ASCS national champion Jason Johnson won the night's feature in the company of multi-title winner, Gary Wright and other ASCS National Tour drivers. That was after a pitiful nine car show last week, making many doubt the future of sprint car racing here. Devil's Bowl is Todd's home track and he is seeking a return to victory lane again after his early season win. He will be back in the 14E next Saturday night in Mesquite with the green flag dropping at eight o'clock. April 3, 2010 -- It took just two weeks for Todd and the 14E to find their way to Victory Circle at Devil's Bowl Speedway. Todd swept his heat race and the A Main, Saturday, April 3rd. Todd led both races flag to flag starting the year with a big positive. Todd spent the two previous racing weekends getting used to the race car and fighting bitter wind and gaining seat time after being away from the race car for a year after a season ending injury in 2009.
2010 14E Todd Evans/Sport Clips Racing Sprint Car ------------------------------------ 2009 Highlights -- Todd spent a late July night evening getting used to being back in his sprint car, making his way to the Gulf South "A" Main through the "B" Feature at Houston Raceway Park. Rain put a damper on the night of racing with a three hour delay. Once the racing restarted the track was greasy slick. Todd ran a few laps before coming in after his brakes failed. It was his first and only race back before the season ended after suffering ankle and foot injuries earlier in the year away from the track. Earlier in July -- With the National ASCS Tour in Washington and Oregon, it stopped for a warm up in Hartford, South Dakota Saturday, July 11th at I-90 Speedway. Travis Rilat carrying the Sport Clips logo on his wing raced his way to the A Main, starting eighth and charging five spots in a race with four lead changes to put the #29 F&J Construction sprinter in third place for the night, a good finish as the tour heads north west. July 4th Weekend Wrap Up-- In South Texas, at Texana Speedway Eric Baldaccini was all about speed both nights as he raced from the back of A Main Features. Friday, he drove from 14th to 7th place after running second place in his heat race. Saturday night, the car was super fast crossing the line second in the heat and thundering from 14th to 5th spot before cooling problems after several yellow and red flags ended the night for the 14E with two laps to go. Eric finished 14th from the pits. It was also a mixed bag of racing in West Memphis, Arkansas for the #29 sprinter of Travis Rilat. He was full throttle Friday night with a win in his heat race and a second place A Main to lock him into the big show Saturday night. Being in the draw he didn't have to run a heat and ran in the top five all night in the A Main until a late lap crash took him out of action. The ASCS National Tour heads north to South Dakota, July 11th while the ASCS Gulf South tour is back on the track July 31st. Late June -- Saturday's night's National ASCS Tour Action brought less than desired results for Travis Rilat. He finished his heat race in second place to make the A Main but finished 11th in the feature with Travis and the car not able to hook up with the third mile track. Travis' next race is West Memphis, Arkansas where the ASCS National Tour makes its holiday weekend stop. Earlier... The action was fierce during the World of Outlaws stop in Cameron, Missouri for Travis Rilat and the Sport Clips logoed sprinter Friday night. Travis made the A Main with a fourth place finish in his heat race. He started 14th in the A, with Joey Saldana capturing the win and Travis finishing 21st. Eric Baldaccini piloted his own car in ASCS Lone Star Region Racing in Boyd, and Kennedale, Texas over the weekend, with Eric winning Friday night's "A" Main in Boyd.
Beaumont's Golden Triangle Raceway brought a first time Sport Clips ASCS Sprint Car win thanks to Todd's good friend, Travis Rilat carrying the Sport Clips logo on his top wing Friday, June 19th. You can check www.ascsracing.com for full race details of the win. Travis also topped his heat race. The ASCS Gulf South Regional series moved to Baytown Saturday, June 20th for action at Houston's Raceway Park. That night there put two Sport Clips cars on the track with Eric Baldaccini of Keller, Texas, the 2008 ASCS National Tour Rookie of the year, taking Todd's owned 14E house car wheel after piloting his own #4 sprinter Friday night in Beaumont. Eric was up on the wheel throughout the night to start the 25 lap A Main. He charged 12 spots after taking the green from the back of the field to a top ten finish. Travis was also on the move all night finishing the A feature just outside the top three in fourth position. Both Travis and Eric did a great job! The driver's seat of the house car is open for Eric to drive in the Gulf South ASCS Region when it does not conflict with Eric's ASCS National Tour Schedule. -------------------- Earlier in the season..... It was a night of a locked down track and fast speeds at Devil's Bowl Speedway in May when a rain out in Little Rock brought the National Tour drivers back to the bowl. Justin had the 14E going good with strong finishes in his two races of the night. Waco's first ASCS Regional action of the season put the 14E again with Justin piloting on a fast pace in heat races of the evening and a third row start in the A Main. Unfortunately a spin by a car on the pole for the race collected the Sport Clips sprinter and another car for the night. The good news? The engine and Justin were poised for a good race with a very fast car. The Spring Nationals at Devil's Bowl Speedway found Todd putting fellow racer Justin Sporel behind the wheel of the 14E. Minor engine troubles cost the car some speed all weekend despite Justin's good racing to move the car forward in heat race and other action of the night. The 2009 season began for Todd and the 14E Sport Clips car in early March with ASCS Gulf South racing in Cleveland, Texas. 2008 Rewind ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The end of the season at Winter Nationals brought Todd's season to a close with two days of racing with the 14E Sports Clip Sprint Car returning to Georgetown with some fun and fast racing and some good experiences for next season. Thanks to everybody who stopped by to meet Todd and get his autograph, many of them first timers at a sprint car race. August in conclusion? Two weeks off because of a rainout and schedule changes. Welcome September and cooler weather and better racing. Thanks to the many fans who check this page daily. Sorry for late updates, but the web master, Todd's sister writes when there is something to talk about and figures you know the drill when the 14E's racing world is quiet. Todd spent the Labor Day weekend racing in Corpus Christi and Texana Speedway in Edna. Both with more questions about the approaching hurricane than action on the track. Ahead? Check the schedule page in a few days for more details. As always thanks to Sport Clips for supporting 14E Todd Evans Racing. Saturday, August 9th -- Todd brought the Sport Clips 14E to Cowtown Speedway and the short quarter mile in Ft. Worth. The next weekend brought a rainout at Houston's Raceway Park. Saturday, July 26th-- The season is entering its crucial weeks and Todd and the 14E stayed consistent finishing third in his heat race and another fourth place finish in the feature. Using the top groove Todd made up ground during the feature to take a top five finish. There's no break in either the action or the heat with Todd and the Sport Clips sprinter back at Devil's Bowl Saturday, August 2nd to welcome a new month. Saturday, July 19th -- A quick turnaround, unloading one car and loading the Devils Bowl car for Saturday night action with continued improvement, with Todd winning his heat race and finishing fourth in the feature. He'll be back at the bowl Saturday, July 26th in weekly action.
Saturday, July 12th -- The winner of the night's races at Devil's Bowl fought the heat as much as other cars. Todd and the 14e Sport Clips gained more points finishing seventh in the finish with a good car and a very rough track. Saturday, July 5th -- A planned week of three races in a row got scrubbed by Mother Nature in South Texas. with rainouts at South Texas Speedway and Texana Raceway in Edna, Texas for the ASCS Gulf South Tour and the 14E. Todd 's run at Devil's Bowl brought another dry slick truck and a car that didn't hook up with the conditions. Bottom line, unremarkable finishes and a track that needs water. Saturday, June 28th -- Todd is still trying to hunt down his first feature of the year with a third place A Main finish. Earlier in the night, he took the runner up spot in his heat race. Staying smooth on the track moved Todd into third place in points at Devil's Bowl. Saturday, June 21st -- The night brought another first in a heat race and a strong second in the feature, with Todd and the 14E Sport Clips machine putting the car even closer to victory lane. Saturday, June 14th -- Todd and the Sport Clips sprinter started a hot and humid night fast in heat race action crossing the finish line first. In between the heats and features drivers went into the grand stands at Devil's Bowl to collect money for the victims of the flooding in Iowa. By the time the final coins and bills were counted over 31-hundred dollars was raised to provide help to people in need of a break after weeks of battling storms, tornados and flooding. Thanks to the fans who stood tall in bringing hope from racers in Dallas to families in the hard hit region. Todd stayed consistent on the track, not finishing where he wanted at seventh but regardless moving himself up to fifth in points after the night's action. Saturday, June 7th -- Todd finished strong in his heat race taking the checkered flag in second place. Early in the feature, he and the 14E got caught up in a mishap that ended the night but caused only minimal damage to his car. Saturday, May 31st -- After a double night racing campaign, Todd returned to Devils Bowl for weekly points racing. He crossed the finish line further back than he'd like, but at this point of the season loading a car into the trailer in one piece is a victory. Last weekend's action brought more points at Devils Bowl with a third place heat race finish and sixth place feature spot on a track that continues to be hard to chase as it changes during the night. The next night Todd crossed the line second in his ASCS Gulf South Tour heat race, with a fast car on a rough track. Despite a good finish, he started mid pack in the feature and opted to count his earlier laps as a good first outing for the car. More photos coming soon of all the recent action, but the web editor/Todd's sister is a little behind, unlike her brother. LOL. A special thanks this week as well to Carver Elementary School in Georgetown where Todd handed out trophies to the children who won the Racing into Reading program. Congratulations to them and remember Readers are Leaders in life! Saturday, May 17th -- Todd and the 14E Sport Clips sprinter returned to Devil's Bowl for weekly points racing. Todd crossed the line third in his heat race and fourth in the feature for another week of consistency in the points. The car was strong as track conditions changed throughout the night to go dry slick by the feature. Todd's ASCS night on Saturday, May 10th was a chance to shake down the car a bit with more laps to come later in the month in Waco. This weekend finds him back in weekly action at Devil's Bowl for Week Seven of the Season. It promises to be a good weekend after a rainy week. As for track conditions, it promises not to be a repeat of last weekend's sudden rainstorm that muddied up the night. We'll see you at the track. May 3, 2008 -- Another cool spring night with consistency on a track that was slicker than ice in spots. Todd crossed the line second in his heat race and took the checkered in fourth place in the A Main. It all builds points and that's a good night to take home. The Super Sprints take a break Saturday, May 10th for the ASCS National Tour. Todd will be in his ASCS car putting its first laps of the season on it at Devil's Bowl. See you in the back pit area this weekend because of the big haulers. April 26, 2008 -- Todd and the 14E Sport Clips sprinter came within just a couple of feet of winning his second A Main Feature at Devil's Bowl, finishing a very close second after chasing down leader Brent Swift. Swift took off from the start while Todd came from the third row to take the lead down the back straightaway on the last lap, Brent took the low line out of turn four and it was a drag race to the finish. Todd started the night by taking third in his heat race on a cool evening in Mesquite. The night will be cool again tonight, May 3rd for racing action at the Bowl. April 19, 2008 -- Some days are diamonds, others are forgetful, count Saturday night as one of them. The good news there's always a race coming up as in this weekend on the 26th. Todd will be looking for better results. April 12, 2008-- Heavy rains in the DFW area last week didn't make the clay any less dry and slick Saturday night. Todd finished seventh in the feature on a tough track. It's back to the track Saturday night, April 19th, with get in free night for the folks who live in the web master's hometown of Frisco and nearby communities. We hope to see you there. April 5, 2008 -- Another strong week at Devil's Bowl, with the 14E Sports Clip sprinter finishing second in his heat race and fourth place in the feature on a track that went from tacky to slick. Todd gained more points with his run. Todd was pleased to have NASCAR's Mike Wallace and Sport Clips Founder and CEO, Gordon Logan at the track Saturday night. He appreciates their support and that of Sport Clips. Special thanks as well to Neil Geiger of Sport Clips for taking some great photos of the Sport Clips Racing Team. Week three of the season's campaign is next Saturday, April 12th. Pictures of week two action are posted in the Photo Gallery Section of the web site. As an aside it was nice to meet little Palmer's big brother, Kolby who got his picture snapped in Todd's car. Kolby's picture is featured as part of the week two action. Palmer's is going to be added soon. March 29, 2008 -- Todd opened his season at Devil's Bowl Speedway Saturday night, March 29th with a "checked out" heat race victory and a strong second place run in the night's Super Sprints "A": Main. It was a night to enjoy being back at the track for the 14E Sport Clips racing team and seeing Todd back in his groove around the half mile banked oval. The next week holds an ASCS show Friday night at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco and then back to DB with the Little Wing Car Saturday night. In summary, a nice, cool spring night, with nice results, but many races to come and lots of hard work ahead. Thanks to the many fans, especially several first time track visitors, including six month old Palmer who posed with Todd holding him on a Hoosier Tire while Palmer's Mom and Dad snapped a few pics. Always with us in
Spirit, Lexus. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Check out fscpictorial.com again. The left side took the hard hit At least this time you can recognize the wing
Five rotations in the air ended Todd's night at the Winter Nationals in Mesquite. Running in his heat race in a duel for third place the 14E and the 13 of Spike Hill made contact in unbelievably notorious turn two, sending Todd airborne. When the car landed the night was over for good. Unlike the big one in July during ASCS Speedweek, the top wing survived intact, but is bent as is the car. It won't be repaired in time for a return to Mesquite later today. It's another rough break in a season filled with the thrill of victory on September 15th and nights like Friday night when updating the website is tough because of shear frustration at the outcome of a race. Todd's team photographer caught the crash on video. It's post on YouTube is drawing thousands of views. With that, thanks to
Todd's loyal fans who have stuck with us thick or thin, we've enjoyed meeting you and
enjoyed our post race chats. To Sport Clips, thanks for your support and for giving Todd
the opportunity to race carrying your sponsorship banner. It is an honor. ============== An off week is a rare thing during this part of the season, but last weekend we had one, with the 14E Sport Clips race team meeting up at Cowtown Speedway near Ft. Worth as supporters of Sprint Series of Texas racer, Matt Brooks. We even brought along a very young crew member to cheer on Matt.
You recognize the guy in the racing t-shirt, enjoying a night out of the driver's suit. Todd's youngest nephew, Alexander is in the middle, complete with earplugs. He thought the cars were too noisy, but liked the mini sprints and thought he should get one. And no Todd' s sister, Janet ,isn't getting ready to wade through a pond, that's the photographer's revenge, ha. Anyway it was a fun night and Matt did great Friday night, winning his heat race. We've checked out some cool pics of Todd and the 14E Sports Clip sprinter from late September action in Beaumont. It's always nice to get a new angle of the car entering the turns and one will be featured in the photo gallery soon. Track photographers do great work and we appreciate the images they've captured this season. ================== Early Sunday, September 30th, 2007 It's always interesting and challenging when a night's racing action stretches well into the early morning hours of the next day. That's the case at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas for the Gulf South show which began with high humidity and a blazing sun, mixed with an early evening Saturday thunderstorm and finished with more thunder on the track. Todd ran in the third heat of the night and was on the throttle, jamming in the turns, finishing fourth in a fun race to watch. He made the "A" main on passing points, yea! The track was heavy, the pits were slippery after the storm and walking was a major accomplishment literally. We all survived upright and in one piece, driver, car and crew included. The 14E Sport Clips rig rolled into Georgetown at 6:30am. Please excuse any typos, they are literally from a weekend filled with high speed racing and a lack of sleep. Needless to say there are some sleepy race teams heading into a new week. Now, there's a two week pause in the action because Todd's Gulf South season is over with some good goals accomplished, namely racing on different tracks and building a knowledge base that will help build for year two on the tour in 2008. All drivers have tracks they love and those they loathe. Beaumont's Motorama was fun to try but isn't on our "favorites" list. Yes, for the non Texans reading this, everything you've heard about the skeeters and chiggers in far Southeast Texas is true. They carry a mean bite. Todd finished fifth in his heat and missed the "A" I think the mosquitoes get the victory there. ----------------------------------- Saturday, September 22nd -- One week after capturing his first ever "A" Main, Todd posted his season best ASCS Gulf South feature finish, with the 14E Sport Clips sprinter crossing the checked at South Texas Speedway in eighth place. It was the first trip in years for the ASCS sprints to Corpus Christi. Todd's heat was loaded with speed with ASCS National Points contender, Jason Johnson taking the win and Todd finishing fifth. Saturday, September 15th-- Dream Comes True It is a night Todd will never forget. After a lifetime of dreaming about it, Todd, driving the 14E Sport Clips sprinter won his first "A" Main Feature event. The victory came at Devils Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. He took the lead within the first few laps and charged to the checkered flag, holding it proudly in victory lane, along the front straightaway of the half mile dirt oval. We can't wait to show you the pictures and video because like the race, the celebration was something to see. Todd's racing career found a pinnacle with the win and also gives him a chance to say a big thanks to Sport Clips for its support of him over the last two years. Todd is tremendously grateful and is thrilled to bring the win home to Gordon and the entire Sport Clips Team. Thanks as well to everybody sharing congrats with Todd on the win. The weekend started super on Friday morning, thanks to the students at Carver Elementary School in Georgetown for their amazing response to Todd and the Sport Clips sprint car's visit to the school to launch this year's "Race Into Reading" program.
It was fun and filled with smiles, hugs and autographs. To the students, as you read this with your parents, remember this......"dreams can come true proven by Todd's win over the weekend. It was simply wonderful to see those hundreds of beautiful, smiling children holding checkered flags and waving to greet Todd and Sport Clips at school. Most importantly, they are excited about reading! Check out this link to see more photos of Todd's visit to Carver. http://www.georgetownisd.org/carver/photos.htm Todd raced with the ASCS Sooner Region Friday night, winding up a busy day at the quarter mile Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco. The racing was fast and action packed all night with Todd finishing the 25 lap "A" Main in 9th place, his first top ten finish in an "A" this season. ---------------- Race Results from Labor Day weekend: The holiday weekend was fun and put the Sport Clips sprint car in front of several thousand ASCS regional fans at three tracks in Texas. The weekend's run finished with Todd's debut at 105 Speedway in Cleveland,Texas
Todd had a great time at Cleveland, but a bad draw put him at the back of both his heat race and the second "B" main feature. Passing was tough and the night ended without a trip to the A Feature. Todd's bad starting position gave him a great opportunity to test the car on the sandy quarter mile track and put in some fast laps. The fans appreciated seeing a new car at the track and gave Todd a nice greeting during the night and you can't beat that. To everybody we saw at Waco, Mesquite and Cleveland during the weekend, thanks for stopping by, saying hi and cheering on Todd. The Gulf South versus Sooner Region was fast from the start, Saturday, September 1st. -- Devils Bowl Speedway in Mesquite brought Todd to the A Main through his heat race which is never a lock with a 30 plus car field. As is the case in ASCS racing, you qualify for the main event through passing points and Todd accumulated enough of those with a fifth place finish to pass directly to the "A." The 14E took the green in the feature and dodged another first lap scare when a car flipped in front of him. Friday, August 31st in Waco stirred up what's typical this summer, a pre race shower and a long night of racing with some mechanical issues included. After a weekend that flew by, it's time to take a deep breath, get ready for the weeks ahead, with another Gulf South doubleheader in Beaumont and Houston later in the month The video turned out good from Sunday's visit to 105 Speedway, be looking for that once we condense a race night into a file small enough to keep your computers in high gear.
There are also new pictures turning up all the time in the photo gallery section of hoseheadsforum.com Hey sprint fans there's still time left in the season to sign up for the Sport Clips Racing Club. Go to www.sportclips.com and get more on Todd and the rest of the Sport Clips racing team. After you get to the home page, click on the "promotions" tab for full details on signing up for the club. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's what's happened in Todd's racing from earlier this season. Saturday, August 25th -- Another Saturday night in August and yea, another checkered flag for Todd and the 14E Sport Clips machine. This time at what we referred to as the half mile dirt track east of Dallas, i.e., Devils Bowl Speedway. Todd raced with the Super Sprints and won his heat race and brought home a sixth place finish in the feature. Todd now looks ahead to a busy Labor Day Weekend with ASCS Gulf South races in Waco Friday Night at Heart O' Texas Speedway and Sunday night at 105 Speedway in Cleveland, Texas. Todd added to the autographs collections of several young fans again Saturday night, signing his "Sport Clips" hero cards, checkered flags and even a few t-shirts. A few kids got to check out the inside of a sprint car with Todd helping them climb into the cockpit of his car. It was a good night! Saturday, August 18th -- Houston brought Todd's first win of the season albeit not the big prize of the night, with him taking the checkered flag in the "B Feature" of the ASCS Gulf South stop at Houston Raceway Park on Saturday night, August 18th. Todd started on the front row of the "B" and took the lead before leaving turn two, and never looked back, crossing the finish line with a comfortable "aired out" victory. Todd then transferred to the main event of the night, dodging two separate first lap crashes before ending his night early with a throttle malfunction on lap 19 of the 25 lap feature. It was a productive night with good laps on the track. Thanks again to those who visited the pits after the races in Houston to meet Todd and check out the Sport Clips car. Saturday, August 11th -- Todd took off at the start of his heat race and found plenty of clean air crossing the finish line in second place in his heat race. The heat at Devils Bowl was unbelievable, that typical southeast wind was non existent. As is usually the case the sprints ran the last feature of the night on a treacherous track. Todd had a good starting spot on paper inside the second row, but the car wouldn't work in the low groove and going high was tough as well. Todd kept the car in the race dodging trouble at least twice caused by a driver of whom we do not speak, did you catch the Harry Potter reference there? The result? No crashes and a clean finish back in the pack with a car ready to race another day. It was great to see all the kids and parents who stopped by after the race to get Todd's autograph and one young man who said he hoped to race against Todd someday. You never know. Saturday, July 27th -- Snake bit is the phrase of the 2007 racing season for Todd and the 14E. We're taking the attitude of biting the snake back the rest of the way. The first part of the night at Devils Bowl Speedway went decent, with the Sport Clips sprint car finishing fourth in its heat race. Hours later, literally, after what seemed like a flurry of crashes and mishaps with the other divisions of cars and even in the stands, where a hubcap became a flying saucer, Todd started the 15 lap feature outside the third row and had a fast start going into turn one, going high, setting up for a down the back straightway pass, before something happened again, in what is becoming a rather notorious turn two. The 14E got pulled a little too high in the groove, catching loose dirt, with the right front tire digging in, causing the car to flip. Compared to the ASCS Speed Week "big one", the latest flip was a tumble, but still damaged the top and bottom wings of the car. Thankfully, Todd walked away uninjured. Thursday, July 19th-- It was the ASCS Speedweek stop at Devils Bowl Speedway. Todd started in the fourth heat race and finished without an automatic qualification for the "A." That meant a trip to the first "B" feature where Todd and the 14e Sport Clips sprint car flipped during the fifth lap. The flip happened when Todd was leaving turn and hit the 1H car of Tommy Hall. Todd was in the low groove and almost cleared Hall who spun out high in turn two. Todd says quote "instead of shutting down the car to bring out the caution, Hall stayed on the gas, and on the gas wrongly drove back into traffic sideways." Literally there was nothing Todd could do to miss him -- it was the classic being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Earlier in July -- In what's become a bad habit, thunderstorms moved in at just the wrong time Friday, July 13th at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco, to scrub another ASCS Gulf South racing slate. The good news? Todd and the 14E actually finished a heat race before the rain let loose. The bad news, nobody else finished a race, so officially the show was a wash out. For what it's worth, Todd got some time in the seat and turned some laps which as we've mentioned all summer have been hard to come by. In June.... Racing finally beat Mother Nature to the finish line June 9th at Devils Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Todd and the 14e returned to the track for the first time since April 28th after a series of rainouts and a stop in Houston with the ASCS Gulf South Tour in mid May. The rain went away but the heat and humidity created a very heavy track in heat race action. Todd finished third in the final sprint heat race of the night. He took the green flag in the A Main from inside the fifth row. The feature brought a drastic change in track conditions. The track turned dry slick, with the front straight away in rough condition after a night in which five classes of cars toured the circuit with more than a handful crashing on the front straight. In Todd's feature alone, two cars flipped, one ahead of the 14e going into turn one. Todd dodged trouble, finishing eleventh, bringing the Sport Clips car back to Georgetown in good shape and without rain clouds in tow. In May.... Back with the ASCS Gulf South Tour on May 19th, Todd found a better draw at Baytown's Houston Raceway Park putting him and the Sport Clips sprinter into the "A" Main for the first time this year with a third place heat race finish. His feature finish matched the date on the calendar at 19th. Todd and the 14e made their second ASCS National Tour appearance Saturday, May 12th at Devils Bowl Speedway. The luck of the draw for the night was anything but lucky putting Todd at the back of the field in his heat race. He missed qualifying for the "A" Main, which meant a second row inside start in the "B". Despite a fast start, a spin on a slick turn two ended the night. In other action at Devils Bowl Speedway..... Two weeks worth of rain outs at Devils Bowl delayed the start of the regular points season in Mesquite until Saturday, April 21st. Todd finished fourth in the first heat race action of the season. He ended the night back in the pack on a heavy track with a poor handling car. Week two, April 28th brought encouragement to the 14e Sport Clips team with a second place heat race finish at Devils Bowl and a dash to the checkered flag in the A Main, finishing third in a charge behind Loyd Clevenger and Charlie Brown. Rain washed out Devils Bowl on May 5th and 26th and June 2nd and 9th. Starting the season in Mid March.... Todd's ASCS campaign took the green on March 16th and 17th at Devils Bowl Speedway during the ASCS O'Reilly Spring Nationals. The two night event brought less than hoped for results with mechanical failure on night one, March 16th. The second night brought a good draw in heat race action but more challenges when caught up in a wreck before the green flag flew. The Sport Clips 14e was repaired in time to compete in the B Main with Todd failing to qualify for the A Main because of ongoing mechanical issues.
